Mongolia welcomes tourists to travel visa-free from 2023 to 2025, just have a valid passport, and you can stay in Mongolia for up to 30 days.

Health and Insurance

No specific vaccination requirements. All visitors should ensure they come to Mongolia with adequate medical insurance or purchase one from Mongolian insurance companies if necessary.

Scheduled International Air Routes

Most visitors arrive in Mongolia by air through Chinggis Khaan International Airport, located 18 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar. International air transport is operated by MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Korean Airline, Air China, Turkish Airlines, and Aeroflot, while domestic air transport is operated by MIAT, Aero Mongolia, and Eznis.

Local Flights

Mongolia, a vast country with sparse population and poor infrastructure, heavily relies on air transport. MIAT, Aero Mongolia, and Eznis airlines operate scheduled domestic flights to 21 aimags. Most flights have their hubs in Ulaanbaatar, so traveling from one destination to another in Mongolia often requires a stopover in UB. A round trip to Dalanzadgad or Murun costs approximately $310 USD.

Eznis operates flights to Altai, Donoi, Ovoot, Choibalsan, Dalanzadgad, Bayankhongor, Murun, Ulaangom, Khovd, and Ulgii.

Aero Mongolia operates flights to Ulaangom, Khovd, Ulgii, and Altai.

Railway Services

The Mongolian railway consists of two separate railway lines. Firstly, the main Trans-Mongolian line, which stretches for 1,110 km and operates between Russia and China, passing through Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Secondly, the Bayan Tumen railway line runs northeast from the Russian border to Choibalsan in eastern Mongolia for 239 km.

The total length of the Mongolian railway, including its branches, is 1,815 km. The Mongolian railway carries the freight turnover and 55% of passenger traffic in Mongolia. Tickets for domestic trains are available at Ulaanbaatar Railway Station and other railway offices throughout the country. Post

The central post office is located at the southwest corner of Sukhbaatar Square and provides postal and communication services to over 100 countries worldwide. In addition to postal services, people can purchase reasonably priced postcards, which sometimes take up to two months to reach their final destination, and collectible stamps.

The standard voltage is 220 volts / 50Hz. Outlets require a two-pin plug or adapter.
