Day 1: Baga Gazar
Arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar and explore the beautiful rock formations and ancient temple ruins at Baga Gazar, where Genghis Khan faced one of his most challenging battles. Continue exploring the area with a hike.
Day 2: Tsagaan Suvarga
See the spectacular Tsagaan Suvarga Canyon, also known as the “White Stupa,” formed by wind and water erosion in the Gobi Desert. Take a hike around the canyon.
Day 3: Yol Valley
Explore Yol Valley, the only place in the world where you’ll find an open-air glacier in the desert. Visit a local museum to learn about the area’s flora and fauna, then head into the valley for a hike to the frozen canyon.
Day 4: Khongor Sand Dunes
Explore the giant sand dunes of Khongor and climb one of the highest dunes to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Enjoy a camel ride and another dune climb.
Day 5: Bayanzag
Head to the site of Bayanzag, known as the "Flaming Cliff", in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, which offers spectacular rocky landscapes with red and orange hues, especially fascinating at sunset. It is home to rich deposits of fossils, including remains of dinosaurs and prehistoric birds from the Upper Cretaceous.
Day 6: Ongi Monastery
Visit the ruins of the ancient Ongi Monastery, located along the Ongi River in central Mongolia, is a historical site featuring ruins of temples and stupas damaged during the communist period in the 1930s. Explore the picturesque ruins at sunset.
Day 7: Kharakhorum
Visit the local Karakorum Museum and Erdene Zuu Monastery surrounded by stupas to learn about the history of the ancient Mongolian capital. Kharakhorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia founded in 1220 by Genghis Khan, is famous for its monumental ruins and Erdene Zuu Monastery surrounded by stupas.
Day 8: Khustai National Park
Visit Khustai National Park to see the famous Takhi wild horses and other local wildlife. Enjoy a short documentary about the history of the park and spotting Przewalski horses.
Day 9: Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Visit the National Gallery, the main city square and Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy a traditional Mongolian music concert before returning to your hotel.
Day 10: Naadam Festival - July 11
Attend the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival and the wrestling matches. Visit the Choijin Lama Museum and the possibility of watching a folk show. Free dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: National Naadam Festival - July 12
Transfer to Khui Doloon Khudag for the horse races. Return to Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon and free time for shopping or individual visits. Free dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12: Return to Italy
Pickup from the hotel in the morning for the return flight.
